A peça "Século" surgiu de uma visita ao edifício da Interpress, que tal como o nome indica era uma antiga gráfica, onde eram impressas e distribuídas todas as revistas e jornais de Lisboa e arredores. Partindo desta informação, e querendo fazer uma peça específica para o local, o trabalho consiste num conjunto de artigos de revistas e jornais dos anos cinquenta (O Século, Modas e Bordados, Eva, Crónicas Femininas, etc.), que tratam de acontecimentos sociais e declarações privadas. No lugar das imagens, que geralmente acompanham estes artigos, aparecem fotografias de uma mulher/personagem em diversas situações e ambientes, conferindo a única leitura possível dos textos, ou melhor, unificando todos as histórias numa só. Esta nova personagem é também ela real, mas ao ser deslocada para este contexto (da imprensa) torna-se fictícia e ao mesmo tempo exposta a tudo e a todos, através de uma realidade que não é a dela.

The piece “Century” (Século) come out from a visit to the Interpress building, in Bairro Alto, in Lisbon. It used to be an old graphic, where all the newspapers and magazines distributed in Lisbon and surroundings were printed. Consequently, this work consists in some Portuguese newspapers and magazines from the 50s (o Século Ilustrado, Modas e Bordados, Flama, Crónicas Femeninas, etc), wich deal with social events and private statements. Instead of the images, which usually go with these articles, these are pictures of a woman/character in different situations and environments. Thus the texts are given a unique version, unifying all the histories in a single one.
This new character is also real, but when displaced to this context (of the press), it becomes, not only unreal, but also exposed to everything and to everybody through a reality, which is not hers.
