Sabine/Brunilde é um conjunto de duas instalações que consistem na passagem da realidade para a ficção e vice-versa através da história de duas personagens, uma real e a outra fictícia.
A primeira, Sabine, é uma mulher Alemã que vive em Portugal. A sua história passa por uma infância um pouco difícil na relação com os seus pais e por uma fase adulta cheia de romances mal sucedidos, onde paira a infelicidade. Ela, por sua vez, dedica-se ao canto lírico, mas também aqui é mal sucedida sendo sistematicamente castrada, tanto pelos os pais, como pelos os amantes, marido e a própria vida, que nunca a incentivaram para uma carreira de cantora de ópera. Apesar de tudo isto ela criou na sua revolta uma carapaça que se refugiava e expressava no canto, trabalhando cada vez mais e mais, como de um mundo intimista se tratasse, onde ela se sentia bem e através do qual encontra a “felicidade”.
A segunda, Brunilde, é a personagem fictícia que Wagner criou para a sua tetralogia, “O Anel do Nibelungo”, que em toda a acção de “A Valquíria”, a segunda ópera da tetralogia, desempenha o papel central. Esta por se preocupar excessivamente com o futuro da raça humana e por cair na teia do amor, vê-se condenada pelo pai a perder a sua condição divina e a assumir a humana, sendo assim confrontada com a realidade terrena, é obrigada a construir o seu mundo.
Estas duas instalações funcionam como uma só, mas em salas distintas. A primeira instalação, Sabine, é um vídeo da própria Sabine numa aula de canto a ensaiar a ária final de “A Valquíria”, desempenhada por Brunilde. Em frente a este vídeo haverá um cenário de “A Valquíria”, com nuvens negras e rochas em escarpa pintado numa enorme tela.
A segunda instalação, Brunilde, terá também um vídeo, da própria Sabine a contar a história da sua vida, em actos, ou seja como quem conta o argumento de uma ópera, tornando-se assim as personagens reais em personagens fictícias.

Sabine/Brunilde is a set of two installations that consist in the passage from reality to fiction and vice versa through the story of two characters, one being real and the other fictitious.
The first one, Sabine, is a German woman who lives in Portugal. Her story goes through a rather difficult relation ship with her parents during childhood and an adulthood filled with failed romances, where a feeling of unhappiness lingers. She, in turn, dedicates herself to opera singing, but once again she is unsuccessful, being systematically castrated by her parents as well as by her lovers, her husband and life itself, who never encouraged her towards a career as an opera singer. Still, she created in this revolt a shell in which she sought refuge and expressed through her singing, working more and more, as if it were an intimate world, where she felt well and through which she found “happiness”.
The second one, Brunilde, is the fictitious character which Richard Wagner created for his tetralogy, “The Ring”, who throughout “ the Valkyries”, the second opera of the tetralogy, holds the main role. She, by excessive concern for the human race and by falling in the web of love, sees herself condemned by her father to lose her divine condition and assume her human one, thus being confronted with the earthly reality and is obliged to build her own world.
These two installations work as one, but in separate rooms. The first installation, Sabine, will be a video of Sabine herself in a singing lesson practising the aria of “The Valkyries”, through Brunilde. In front of this video there will be a set of “The Valkyries”, with black clouds and behind this scenery Brunild’s story will be written, as if it were a novel.
The second installation, Brunilde, will also have a video, of Sabine telling her life to a psychologist , in acts, namely as one would recount the plot of an opera.
