Dilema è um jogo de máscaras onde as fronteiras do interdito e do admitido determinam a natureza do código de comunicação apresentado. A peça revela-nos um código antigo: uma linguagem dos leques, onde a relação entre a posição do leque e a expressão do rosto e do corpo transmite um conjunto Escondido de mensagens pré-defenidas, apenas reconhecíveis por quem conheça previamente as regras de interpretação desta gestualidade simbólica. Um conjunto de fotografias de várias dimensões das três personagens, “interpretadas” pelo próprio artista, surge apresentado em molduras ovais barrocas, instaladas num espaço pintado como uma sala de um Museu de Arte Antiga, numa encenação do lugar compatível com a natureza do tempo representado. Cada uma das imagens é acompanhada por uma legenda incorporada na sua moldura onde se revela o significado da linguagem dos leques.

Dilemma is a game of masks in which the frontiers of the forbidden and the permitted determine the nature of the code of communication that is presented. The piece show us an old code: a language of fans, in which the relationship between the position of the fan and the expression of the face and of the body transmits a hidden set of pre-defined messages, only recognisable by those who already know the rules for the interpretation of this symbolic pattern of gesturality.
A set of photographs of differing sizes of the three characters are presented in baroque oval frames, installed within a space that is painted as a room in a Museum of Early Art. Each of the images is accompanied by a caption incorporated in its frames in which the meaning of the language of fans is revealed.
